Happily Adopted!
Colby, YGRR #4227

Meet Capable Colby! Colby is a handsome, two-year-old Golden who found himself in need of a home through no fault of his own. His owner needed YGRR when her military husband was deployed to Iraq. This young family had already moved out of their home and into an apartment with a "no dog policy." Colby had been owned by his adoring family since he was a puppy and they wanted the best placement for their happy boy. They described Colby as, "a great natured boy who likes to play a lot!"

Colby was taken to the YGRR veterinarian where he was in good overallhealth. However, he needed treatment for worms, was brought up-to-date on
his vaccinations, and tattooed. He soon came to live at Riverview. The staff noted Colby was a solid resident who got along well with the other Goldens in the kennel. Additionally, he was a very friendly, high energy adolescent who thrived with consistent handling.

Colby deserved a reliable forever home. A wonderful couple was called to meet him. This family had been waiting for a young, male Golden who would get along with their older Golden girl, Leilani. When they met Colby at their scheduled adoption appointment, it seemed the perfect fit! He has now comfortably settled into his new home, just as if he's always been there! His adopters have already reported that Colby is a good boy and very smart! They have even enrolled Colby in an obedience class to positively channel his brain energy. He is a sweetheart who spends time cuddling up with his family, walking daily, and playing in his fenced in yard. Colby is happy to be part of a family once again and his new family is thrilled to have him as their constant companion. That's our Capable Colby!

Happily Adopted!
Maxine, YGRR #4323 and Millie, YGRR #4324

New beginnings flourish in the New Year! Maxine and Millie are eight-year-old red and blonde golden girls. They were surrendered in the fall by their former owner who was a local neighborhood puppy-mill breeder. When it became apparent he had too many dogs under his town's by-law rules for kennel operation, he decided to relinquish his oldest females who would no longer bring his breeding facility the financial gains he wished. These two lovable dogs lived outdoors in a kennel during the day and slept in a wooden box in the house at night!

Maxine and Millie were brought to the caring and thorough YGRR veterinarian. Upon examination it appeared each female had recently had a litter of puppies. Both girls were spayed, brought up-to-date on their vaccinations, and tattooed. Due to weight concerns each was placed on a healthy diet to shed some unnecessary pounds. The girls came to Riverview to take up residence. The staff noted that within a few weeks their timid, reserved personalities began to shed away and the two emerged as two very sweet, happy-go-lucky dogs!

After reviewing adoption applicants, YGRR's Adoption Coordinator contacted a couple who were knowledgeable, repeat adopters. This dog savvy couple wanted to adopt another senior dog and was told about the M & M girls. When they came to the scheduled adoption appointment, they fell in love with the senior girls. Now Maxine and Millie look forward to daily walks, a fenced-in backyard, and lots of love--And just in time to ring in the New Year for the first time as true members of a loving family! Bright, new beginnings for two very special senior girls!

On behalf of all the truly exceptional YGRR Goldens awaiting their new forever homes, we take this opportunity to wish you a very happy, healthy, and safe New Year!
