Happily Adopted! |
Sadie, YGRR #4245 |
This Christmas is certainly merry and bright for our sweet Sadie! Sadie is a lovable one-and-a-half-year-old Golden girl. In the late spring she was tragically hit by a car and suffered a broken leg. After the accident, sweet Sadie was sadly surrendered by her elderly owners when they could not afford her costly medical expenses and extensive rehabilitation. They called YGRR knowing the best placement would be made for their special girl. Luck was on her side and her surgery was a success! Sadie came to Riverview and became a much loved resident.
Sadie spent some time under the methodical care of the YGRR veterinarian. Once Sadie was ready, she came to Riverview with detailed plans for her long-term therapy and treatment. Her recuperation plan was implemented and she was monitored closely by YGRR staff during her lengthy rehabilitation. Sadie's energetic personality was inspiring to all. She progressed and improved and was constantly on the go!
When Sadie had made a full recovery she was placed on the active adoption list. A couple was called who had owned and trained Goldens for many years--and had a securely fenced backyard! This couple was hoping to find just the right dog they could train to be therapy certified. They were told about Sadie and could not wait to come and meet her. As soon as they met Sadie, they could see what a special girl she was. Her adopters have already called with an update to say that Sadie is doing great! Sadie has a new loving family who gives her the mental stimulation and exercise she needs. And her former owners can also have true peace knowing Sadie will have a very merry Christmas indeed!
On behalf of all the YGRR Goldens awaiting their new forever homes, we wish
you all a most joyous holiday! |

King (Kody), YGRR #4261 |
Ten-month-old King was surrendered to YGRR by an animal control officer in a neighboring state. King's original family had adopted him from their local humane society as a puppy. When King grew into an active boy, his family returned him to the same organization. King's owners said he had too much energy for their young family and would jump up on their small children. The knowledgeable animal control officer wanted King in an appropriate home and knew YGRR would place him in just the right situation. King was taken to the YGRR veterinarian and tattooed. He was found to be a healthy Golden boy.
Then King arrived at Riverview he was a typical, energetic puppy. The Riverview team found him to be a wonderful dog that needed daily training and exercise. His positive attitude and willingness to listen made him a great candidate for the right adopter. The perfect match was found! King is now affectionately known as "Kody" and receives the exercise and training he needs. A repeat adopter who was waiting for a young Golden was called about Kody. Kody's new mother and new big sister, Sophie (YGRR #3156) came to the scheduled adoption appointment and it was love at first sight! Things went very well that day and have followed suite ever since! Kody's new adopter contacted us to say he is simply a love and is behaving very well! Handsome Kody now spends his days playing in his fenced in yard, taking daily walks and weekend hikes in a nearby state park, and enjoying the thrill of agility training. We are delighted Kody has found his forever home! |

Copper, YGRR #4292 |

Copper is a handsome, spunky ten-year-old senior Golden who found himself in need of a home through no fault of his own. Copper's original owners loved him very much. But the time intensive care of raising an autistic child left little time for Copper. Additionally, the monetary demands that accompany a special needs situation such as this became too much for the family to handle. They could no longer financially keep their beloved dog. Copper's original owners wanted to make sure he was placed carefully in a loving home so they called YGRR.
Copper was taken to the YGRR veterinarian where he was found to be in good health for an older boy. He was soon brought to Riverview. Copper's previous family said he was the greatest dog they had ever known! They also noted he was quite shy and could be timid with other dogs. So while here, the staff worked with Copper and his interaction with dogs. He did very well and got along rather well with two other seniors in residence!
Copper deserved a home where he would get lots of attention. Repeat adopters who had been waiting for a senior Golden were called. Over the years, this senior couple had three successful and rewarding rescue dog experiences. They missed having a Golden in their lives and were once again ready to adopt. They were eager to meet Copper. Copper seemed to be a perfect fit when they met at their scheduled adoption appointment. He has comfortably settled into his new home and now spends very little time alone, takes daily walks, and enjoys playing in his fenced in yard. Copper's new adopters think he's full of life and couldn't be happier to have him as their constant companion.

Bridget, YGRR #4291 |

|
Bridget's original owners were heartbroken to give her up for adoption. Their seven-year-old red girl had been an important part of their family since they purchased her as a puppy. Bridget's previous family, which included an infant and toddler, were moving across the country into temporary housing, which did not allow dogs. Bridget had been a great companion even letting her young family members tug on her thick golden fur. Her former family so wanted to keep Bridget and sadly struggled with the thought of surrendering her. Finally, they made the painful decision to do what was best for Bridget.
Bridget was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where she was given a thorough check up. She was tattooed, given a dental cleaning, and noted to be quite overweight. Buxom Bridget was advised to lose 15 to 20 pounds. She came to Riverview where she was placed on a healthy diet to begin her weight-loss program. Staff noted Bridget was always friendly and quiet. And she quickly adapted during her all-but-brief stay.
Repeat adopters, who previously had three successful adoption experiences, came to Riverview to meet Bridget. They missed having a golden companion in their home and were once again ready to adopt! This couple understands the needs of the Golden Retriever breed and had the time, space, and love to give Bridget. The couple wanted a social and friendly dog that could enjoy walks and weekly visits from a toddling granddaughter. When the family met Bridget, they knew she was just right! Bridget has settled in beautifully! Her original owners can have perfect peace knowing that Bridget has found such a loving home. |
