Happily Adopted! |
Hannah, YGRR #3977 |
Hannah's story is one that exemplifies the YGRR mission to rescuing Golden Retrievers and keeping them safe as a lifelong commitment.
Hannah is a fourteen-year-old blonde senior. She was first surrendered to YGRR in 2004 at eleven years because she was having accidents in the house. Upon examination with the YGRR veterinarian it was found that she had a stone that filled her entire bladder! The stone was removed and Hannah came to Riverview. Once here the staff found her to be a delightful dog full of personality. We knew it would not take long for Hannah to find a wonderful home. Hannah proved to be a perfect match for a "senior" adopter who was looking for just the right "senior" rescue Golden.
Most recently and quite sadly, Hannah's special mistress unexpectedly passed away. Hannah was immediately brought back to Riverview as is the standard of our safety net program. Hannah and her "mom" were able to enjoy mutual companionship and unconditional love for many years together.
Hannah and her adopter had been part of our Senior to Senior/CARE Program. Because of that ongoing contact we knew Hannah was reasonably healthy. Once back in the program, Hannah was taken to the YGRR veterinarian for an in-depth examination. She passed her health visit with flying colors! We were once again confident our older girl would quickly find another loving home. Seasoned repeat adopters who have lived a lifetime with Golden Retrievers were called. Lovable Hannah and her new parents proved to be super match! We recently spoke with Hannah's new family who said, "Hannah is a lovely dog. She enjoys taking daily walks with us. Our only wish is that we had met her ten years ago, so we would have had more time together!" Hannah is now comfortable in her new forever home being treated like a little Golden princess. |

Ginger, YGRR #4403 |
Sweet-as-they come Ginger is a seven-year-old Golden girl. This lovely girl was placed at Riverview when her elderly caregiver passed away. For many years, Ginger had been lovingly owned and cared for by her mistress. Originally, she had rescued Ginger as a young dog from a California shelter and affectionately raised her. YGRR was called because a loving family member knew we would find the best forever home for their petite and charming girl.
Ginger was given a comprehensive check-up by the YGRR veterinarian. She was found to be in good overall health. She was brought up-to-date on her vaccinations and tattooed. Ginger then came to Riverview where the staff found her to be a solid resident with exemplary kennel manners. Her perky, out-going personality was contagious to dog and human alike. She was
wonderful with other dogs, easy to handle, and a sheer pleasure to spend time with. We knew she needed a special someone who would love this great dog!
The team at Riverview went to work! Soon the perfect match was found for our girl. An outstanding repeat adopter (Tyler, YGRR #4165) was looking for a confident, mature female who would compliment her Golden boy and gel with the family. At the scheduled adoption appointment all went well. Ginger's new, adoring mother recently told us, "Ginger is the perfect match for Tyler. They are never apart. She fits so well with our lifestyle and has the best personality! We love her!" A perfect new beginning for our sweet Ginger! |

Anna, YGRR #4447 |
Anna happily jumped right into her adopter’s van to enjoy the comforts of her new dog bed and toys! Anna is a beautiful, blonde eleven-year-old Golden girl. Her former owner called YGRR to surrender their special senior after a move to a rental property that did not allow for dogs. Anna had been a great family dog since puppyhood and they wanted her to find a permanent, loving forever home. So as her family sadly said good-bye to their loyal dog, brighter days were just ahead.
Anna was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where she was given a complete geriatric workup. She was brought up-to-date on her vaccinations, given a dentistry, and tattooed. Upon examination Anna was found to have a skin infection. So, she was placed on a course of antibiotic medication to treat this issue. Several skin masses were also noted and after consult with a veterinary pathologist, these were removed. Finally, Anna came to Riverview and settled into the kennel where she proved to be a fine senior resident.
We knew it would not take long for our lovely, senior girl to find just the right home! This confident old dog was always friendly and interested in social contact. A senior, repeat adopter interested in adopting a senior girl was called. This special adopter knows the responsibility of dog ownership. He has successfully loved and lived with two other rescue Goldens over the years. At the scheduled adoption appointment the pair proved perfect! Anna’s new owner immediately recognized what a sweet and gentle Golden girl she was. Anna now looks forward to daily walks, carefree days relaxing in her fenced-in backyard, and a lifetime of happiness with her new forever father. |

Sarah, YGRR #4433 |
Sweet Sarah is a six-month-old Golden puppy. This cheerful girl was picked up as a stray wandering the streets of a New England city with no identification to assist in finding her owners. She was held for the required two weeks by the Animal Control Officer and no one came forward to claim her. The knowledgeable Animal Control Officer wanted Sarah in the most appropriate home and knew YGRR would place her in just the right situation.
Sarah was brought to the YGRR veterinarian where she was given a complete examination. Sarah was vaccinated and in need of being spayed and tattooed. Upon examination she was found to have roundworms. So, she was placed on a course of de-worming medication to treat this issue. Finally, Sarah came to Riverview and settled into the kennel. The staff noted Sarah was a sweet puppy with a happy, playful, and willing-to-please attitude. Everyone at Riverview knew it would not take long to match this lovely girl to just the right family.
This adorable puppy was always friendly and loved social contact! A family interested in adopting a young rescue Golden was called. These new adopters came highly recommended by the YGRR Home Visitor. This special family knows the responsibility of dog ownership and the caring and training necessary for a puppy. They have the time and lots of love to give our sweet Sarah. Sarah's new owners contacted us saying they think she was an excellent match. "What a great dog! Sarah has settled in and it's like she has been here for a long, long time. Our son has found a new friend and they are attached at the hips. My wife and I adore her. We would like to thank you for giving us such a wonderful companion." Sweet Sarah now looks forward to comfortable, loving days with a devoted forever family! |
