Happily Adopted!
Emmy, YGRR #4379

Emmy is a delightful eight-year-old senior Golden girl. Her former owner quickly contacted YGRR after being referred by his local humane society. His long twelve-hour work days kept him away from home and Emmy. He knew YGRR would find the most fitting, loving and caring home where Emmy would receive the time and attention she deserved. Emmy's former owner said, "She loves to be with people and likes bones filled with cheese!"

Emmy was admitted and seen by the YGRR veterinarian. She was given a complete geriatric workup. Upon examination she was found to have mild hip-dysplasia, but proved to be in good health. She was brought up-to-date on her vaccinations and tattooed. Emmy came to Riverview where the staff found her to be a pleasant dog, easy to handle, groom, and good with other dogs.

Soon Emmy was ready and was placed on the Active Adoption List. She deserved a special, quiet, loving home where she would receive the attention she deserved. Sure enough she found the perfect home! A dog savvy, repeat adopter was waiting for just the right senior dog that would fit in with her family and cats. She had recently lost her beloved Golden boy, but was once again ready for a good-as-gold senior. Things went beautifully at the scheduled adoption appointment. Emmy enjoys long daily walks on a leash and lots quality time with her new adoring family!

Happily Adopted!
Winston, YGRR #3932

YGRR's mission in providing a lifetime haven and rescue safety-net proved positive for our Golden Retriever friend Winston. He originally entered the program at seven as a stray from a neighboring state. The Animal Control Officer who called YGRR wanted Winston in the most loving and appropriate home and knew we would get the job done!

The Riverview team found Winston to be a pleasant dog with a mellow temperament. At that time, an adopter was found who had the time, energy, and room a Golden needs. After three wonderful years with his loyal boy Winston's father called YGRR. He had lifestyle changes and had moved to a small apartment that could not accommodate a dog. Winston was returned to YGRR because he felt this unfair to his quality of life.

Before returning, Winston was given a full geriatric workup by the YGRR vet. Winston did well and was found to be in good health for an older boy! He was brought up-to-date on his vaccinations and placed on nutritional joint supplements.

Winston then came back into residence at Riverview. He was just as we remembered him with a loving and sweet personality and always wagging his tail! We knew he would find just the right family. Knowledgeable repeat adopters (Rocky #3144 and Goldilocks #4130) were called to meet this great Golden boy. They hoped to welcome another senior Golden into their lives who would get along well with Goldilocks. Upon meeting Winston the family knew he was the senior they had been waiting for! Winston loves his new home, his adoring family, and his spunky sister, Goldilocks!

Happily Adopted!
Jamie, YGRR #4414

Jamie has had quite a journey to find her way to her perfect new adoptive home. YGRR was contacted in June by staff at an MSPCA who reported that they had a female Golden who had been surrendered by her owner. The person who took Jamie to the shelter had gotten her for free at a yard sale and only had her for a few days. All the owner knew about Jamie was that she had been used for breeding and was very shy. The shelter was full and,
because Jamie appeared frightened and overwhelmed, the shelter staff contacted YGRR. A volunteer immediately picked up this sweet Golden girl and took her to the YGRR veterinarian.

It was determined that Jamie was approximately five years old and had given birth to many litters of puppies. She was spayed and tattooed, her vaccinations updated, and brought to Riverview to recuperate. The kennel staff quickly determined that Jamie was terrified of life outside of her kennel run and a plan was quickly implemented to help her gain confidence in
the daily routine at Riverview. Jamie was very comfortable with other dogs and they became her guide to exploring the outside world. Eventually, Jamie was taken off hold and the search began for a very special adopter.

As luck would have it, a repeat adopter came to Riverview for a tour and, when she met Jamie, knew instantly that her family could provide Jamie with the perfect home. Although they were still mourning the recent loss of their rescue Golden, they had a sweet Golden boy at home who proved to be the perfect companion for Jamie. Jamie now has a new family who act as loving cheerleaders as she continues to gain confidence. They report that she makes progress everyday and is now racing around their home and their yard! Everyone who has helped Jamie along the way or knows her remarkable story can now celebrate her new life.

Happily Adopted!
Isabella, YGRR #4417

Isabella, a blond, lovely seven-year-old girl is known for her big, Golden kisses! Cheerful Isabella was surrendered to YGRR when her family no longer had time to spend with their faithful companion. They described her as "a very well behaved dog who loves to be around people." Her family said good-bye to their Golden girl knowing YGRR would place her in a new and loving home.

Isabella was brought to the YGRR veterinarian and given a thorough exam. She was found to have a significant ear infection. Her treatment included a course of antibiotics and ear medication. Before leaving the vet's hospital, she was placed on a healthy diet for her generous size, brought up-to-date on her vaccinations, given a dentistry, and tattooed. Isabella came to Riverview where she was noted to be a very friendly and enthusiastic girl. She got along with the other residents and had exemplary kennel manners.

The team at Riverview went to work looking for just the right family who could appreciate Isabella's contagious personality! Repeat adopters who have had a lifetime of dogs were looking to share and welcome another older Golden into their lives. They had just lost their elderly YGRR Golden and were ready for a new family member. They knew Isabella was perfect for them as soon as they met her! Isabella has settled into her new, loving home. She now looks forward to daily walks along quiet streets, holiday gatherings, and vacationing at Hilton Head for winter stays. Only the best for our dear Isabella!
