How Your Membership Helps Our Homeless Goldens

  • Makes Excellent Veterinary Care Possible

Your membership dues and donations benefit our Rescue Goldens by allowing YGRR to provide the very best, thorough and complete veterinary care to all our Rescue Goldens. There is no age or health limitation to the Goldens we admit to our program so long as the dog will have a good quality of life.

Our routine veterinary care includes spaying/neutering and tattooing all Rescue Goldens as well as providing all vaccinations and heartworm testing. Senior Goldens (age eight and older) routinely receive complete geriatric blood examinations to make sure that they are in good health before they are adopted.

We also provide extraordinary veterinary care to Rescue Goldens who need it.

Every year, we undertake the costly treatment to cure Goldens of heartworm disease which very few animal welfare organizations do.

Every year, we pay for Rescue Goldens to have corrective surgery for hip dysplasia.

Every year, a high percentage of Rescue Goldens are diagnosed and treated for low thyroid function.

Every year we provide surgery to correct entropion -- a condition in which the dog's eyelid rolls in which causes irritation and eye infections and can threaten the dog's vision.

Every year, we treat Rescue Goldens for epilepsy.

And, from time to time, we have a Rescue Golden who requires really extraordinary and expensive care such as heart surgery or complicated orthopedic surgery.

  • Keeps Our Rescue Goldens Happy, Safe and Secure at Riverview

Your membership dues and donations allow YGRR to operate its home, Riverview, which provides a safe and serene place for our Rescue Goldens to await adoption. Rescue Goldens enjoy air conditioned kennels in the summer and radiant floor heat in the winter. They have large fenced in play yards and a pool for exercise or therapy in the summer. An attentive, professional staff, supported by volunteers, makes certain that each and every Rescue Golden gets the best care, as well as training, while waiting to be adopted.

We give each of our Rescue Goldens all the time needed to find just the right home. Some of our Rescue Goldens need to spend months with us recovering from major surgery or from their previous lives. Your membership dues and donations allow us to let them stay with YGRR as long as necessary.

  • Provides Essential Volunteer Support and a Safety Net for Our Rescue Goldens

YGRR members provide volunteer help in all aspects of YGRR's operations. Volunteer choices and assignments are tracked through our membership database, so YGRR membership is necessary in order to make sure your volunteer talents benefit the Rescue Goldens.

YGRR volunteers interview prospective adopters, they transport Rescue Goldens, they work in the office, they maintain our beautiful property, they work to publicize the organization, they maintain this Web site and so much more! Please view our volunteer opportunities.

YGRR members make up the safety net for Goldens in need by spreading the word about the organization to veterinarians, shelters and Golden owners who may encounter Goldens in need of new homes. For more information on giving up a Golden click here.

YGRR members spread the word about the organization to prospective adopters for our Rescue Goldens. For more information on how to adopt a Golden from YGRR, click here.

Your membership dues and donations allow us to do all these things.

You can be confident that your membership support will benefit our Rescue Goldens.
