As the days grow longer and the temperature moderates, we will be spending greater amounts of time outdoors with our dogs. A little common sense and awareness of some of the season's hazards will make your outdoor time pleasurable and safe. Keeping Cool Be sure that your dog's outdoor water supply is both spill-proof and plentiful. A crockery or ceramic water dish may keep water cooler and is more difficult to tip over.
Hot sun can heat concrete, asphalt, slate and granite enough
to burn a pet's paws. Touch these surfaces with your own bare
hands or feet and see how hot they are before asking your dog to walk on them for any distance.
